[REVIEW] Innisfree Always New Auto Liner

One of the necessities in my makeup routine is eyeliner. I have monolids, which make for really plain-looking eyes. It also doesn’t help that my eyes are small, so I try to compensate for that with eyeliner and eyeshadow. I’m still not that great at eyeliner yet, so I’m always on the lookout for products that make my eyeliner routine less of a struggle.

Product description

1. Always new without a sharpener
Press the back and twist the cap to sharpen the pencil, so the liner remains as good as new anytime you use it, without the need for a sharpener.

2. Deep and rich colors with long-lasting effect
The newly improved soft texture and rich colours create long lasting makeup neatly without smudging.

3. A multi-type pencil for multiple purposes
The Always New Auto Liners are available as eyeliners, lip liners, lip pencils, highlighters and concealers.

Official Retail Price in Singapore: SGD 15

You can actually buy many different colours to use for different purposes, such as lip liners. I bought #2, which is a nice chestnut brown. I prefer using brown eyeliner as it brings a nice, soft focus to the eyes without overly emphasizing them.

If you’re wondering why it’s called ‘Always New Auto Liner’, it’s because the pencil actually ‘self-sharpens’!

To sharpen the pencil:
1) Twist open the cap following the direction of the arrow.
2) Press the back of the pencil 1-2 times for medium sharpness or 3-4 times for a sharper tip.
3) Close the cap and twist it to for a brand-new sharp tip.

This is actually by far my favourite eyeliner colour. You can’t really see it in the photograph, but there’s also a bit of glitter in the eyeliner, which I personally like.

The colour payoff is not as intense as I would like my eyeliner to be – I often have to apply a few layers in order for the colour to be more visible on my eyelids. However, it does make for a very soft eye look while making your eyes appear bigger.

It has also been relatively smudge-proof and capable of lasting the whole day through sweat and oil. Not all the pencil eyeliners I’ve used thus far have been that great (Etude House Play 101 pencil and Urban Decay’s Glide-On Eye Pencil tend to smudge onto my lower eyelid, more on these next time).

Final Verdict

I have to admit that my eyeliner game is quite weak. I struggle with liquid eyeliner most of the time, so I usually stick to pencil eyeliners. This is by far my favourite pencil eyeliner, thanks to its beautiful colour and the lack of smudging. Whenever I am in a rush or simply have no energy to do a more complicated eye look, I’ll reach for this and draw a simple puppy eye.

I strongly recommend this for beginners especially, because of how easy it is to use this eyeliner, and I’ll definitely consider repurchasing once it runs out.
