[REVIEW] Innisfree Vivid Fruit Tint

In my attempt to find my favourite tint from Innisfree, I chanced upon this lip tint that was relatively affordable. It reminds me a little of lip tints from Etude House, but nothing really surprising about that since both brands are under the same umbrella company.

Ingredient List

WATER, GLYCERYL POLYMETHACRYLATE, GLYCERIN, PROPANEDIOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ALCOHOL, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, TREHALOSE, TROMETHAMINE, CARBOMER, RED 33 (CI 17200), GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, YELLOW 6 (CI 15985), RED 27 (CI 45410), FRAGRANCE, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, YELLOW 5 (CI 19140), CITRUS GRANDIS (GRAPEFRUIT) PEEL EXTRACT, RUBUS IDAEUS (RASPBERRY) FRUIT EXTRACT, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) FRUIT EXTRACT, ACTINIDIA CHINENSIS (KIWI) FRUIT EXTRACT, PRUNUS ARMENIACA (APRICOT) KERNEL EXTRACT, CITRUS PARADISI (GRAPEFRUIT) FRUIT EXTRACT

I think it’s rather impressive that the ingredient list actually includes real fruit extracts (grapefruit, raspberry, orange, kiwi, & apricot!), although they’re ranked low on the list, meaning that there aren’t large traces of them.

In addition, I was searching the different chemicals included and found an interesting article on glycerin:

Glycerin is a compound that can be made from natural products such as vegetable oil, or can be synthesized from propylene alcohol. The result is an alcohol-based product that is an ingredient in many skin-care products. Glycerin, also called glycerol, can be used for both cosmetic purposes and as a treatment for medical conditions of the skin. Most people are very tolerant of glycerin, without experiencing irritation. The effects of glycerin on skin are a healthier, more natural-looking appearance.

They only have 2 shades available, which is a real pity. I picked Cherry, since I wasn’t quite too sure about making orange lips work for me.

Packaging: It looks very similar to Innisfree’s nail polishes, but I’m not complaining. It’s simple and clean, with a transparent bottle for you to see the colour (though I have to admit that the dark red is very misleading). It’s small and easy to carry around, which is a plus point.

Colour: Don’t be fooled by how dark red the tint colour looks like from the bottle. In reality, the colour is much closer to that seen on the applicator. I’ve forgotten to snap a swatch, but if I had to describe it, it looks very similar to the official lip swatch given by Innisfree. It’s a bright pink that’s actually very similar to that of my favourite Eco Flower Tint #2!

Colour payoff & intensity: I feel that this tint’s colour is a lot more intense than the Eco Flower Tint’s. I got a bit of a shock when I first applied it because the colour payoff was really strong and I wasn’t looking to wearing such a bold colour. Another con is that the colour application isn’t very even, and often stains my teeth more than my lips, which is really troublesome.

Staying power: I have pretty high expectations for lip tints’ staying power, because it is, after all, a tint. Even after meals and long hours, there should at least still be a visible trace of colour on the lips.

While this lip tint manages to pass the test after one meal, I find that its staying power is actually pretty limited. Although you’ll see hints of colour on the cotton pad after wiping your lips with makeup remover at the end of the day, you’ll see close to zero colour on your lips after one full day.

Final Verdict

While I appreciate the initial colour intensity, I expected a much better staying power from Innisfree’s lip tints, so frankly I was slightly disappointed with this. The uneven application was also quite a let-down.

I wouldn’t say it’s a replacement for my favourite lip tint, but it definitely has its own merits. Its best selling feature is, of course, its affordable price. I think at a price of SGD6.50, this lip tint is worth buying if this is your first foray into makeup, or if you’re a bit tight on cash at the moment but still need a nice lip tint to complete your makeup.
