[REVIEW] Cezanne Lasting Lip Color N

If there’s another country that does packaging just as well as Korea, it’s definitely Japan. Japanese cosmetic products are one of the prettiest, most delicate things I’ve seen, while Korean cosmetics are more on the ‘cute’ side.

I first saw Cezanne Cosmetics in Tokyu Hands a month ago and thought it looked really similar to Canmake, with the intricate packaging and sweet colours. I couldn’t believe my luck when I won a set of this brand’s products from Cleo Singapore’s FB contest, and was really excited to try this out, so you will see a few other Cezanne products’ reviews coming up as well!

Packaging: I think for a drugstore brand, this packaging is really great. Its gold details don’t make it look cheap, which is a really tough job if you see how some other brands have tried and failed.

Colour: I’m under the impression that the Japanese are not big fans of matte lipsticks and prefer a glossy or creamy finish, because the lipsticks from Japanese brands I’ve seen so far don’t have matte offerings.

As you can see from the swatch, the colour payoff is quite okay – but only because I applied THREE layers. It’s even less intense than K-beauty products, but I think the result is that you get a very natural and soft look (truly MLBB lol). There’s a nice sheen that makes your lips look slightly plumper, and I have to say that this shade 102 (from the ‘brown’ series) is exactly the lipstick shade I am looking for! It’s definitely a shade to create fall looks, and especially flattering for people with warm undertones.

Staying power: It’s called Lasting Lip Color, so it should last – and it does! I have had experience with lots of bullet lipsticks with this finish that cannot even last through me drinking water, but this is impressive enough to survive a meal! It fades nicely so that you don’t get ugly patches of colour, and don’t have to worry as much about touching up.

Final Verdict

This lipstick falls into my category of ‘not bad, but not something I absolutely love’. The price point is really good, the products works as it should, but not exactly ‘holy grail’ status in my opinion.

If you are looking for an affordable lipstick that isn’t dubious and gives a lovely MLBB colour, I would definitely recommend this. If you are looking for something that gives more personality or has a wow factor, you might not be as impressed by this.
