[REVIEW] Kakao Friends x ONTHEBODY Apeach Vitamin C Lip Balm

K-beauty products are well-known for being adorable, and I’m a huge sucker for adorable beauty products. I’m also a big fan of Apeach, so I immediately bought this lip balm in Olive Young when I saw it.

Product Description

  • The melting formula that melts at body temperature adheres on the lips without any irritation.

Packaging: What more do I have to say? This is super adorable and definitely a must-collect item for any Apeach lover. Apeach’s head makes it a little hard for you to fit this  into your pocket nicely, but it’s still quite small and compact to bring it out daily.

Colour: It’s so faint that you can barely see it on my hand, and it’s not just my photography not doing it justice – it really is very hard to see much colour on skin. However, I was quite surprised at how my lips instantly looked more pink and healthy after I apply this lip balm, even though the colour doesn’t show up on my hand. Maybe it’s some kind of ingredient or technology in the lip balm that only works on lips, but it really is quite mind-blowing. It’s not an intense pink (like a tint that the Innisfree one can give), but rather a soft pink hue that really helps to enhance your natural lip colour.

The colour does get quite faint after meals, so if you are looking to keep that healthy lip glow going, you definitely have to touch up.

Texture: It’s not actually sticky at all, unlike some other lip balms I have tried. It feels like a moisturizing, buttery feeling on your lips.

Effectiveness: My lips feel more supple and less flakey even after staying in a dry, air-conditioned place for long hours with this lip balm. I have yet to test this in super dry conditions (aka Korea’s winter), so I’ll update this again once I’ve done so.

Final Verdict

I’m actually quite surprised at how well this lip balm works for me, because I was honestly just bought over by its packaging and didn’t really pay attention to whether this would be effective.

The price, however, is quite a deterrent. I am pretty sure that it did not cost me so much when I bought it in Korea, so it’s probably just certain sellers who are marking up the price.

UPDATE: I just checked and someone is selling this for SGD 11.50 on Qoo10. It seems much more reasonable, because I bought it at around 10 000 won in Korea if I remember correctly.

Overall, this is a great addition to any lip balm lover or Apeach fan’s collections, but if you’re quite neutral to both of them then this is probably just ~ another ~ of those beauty products with cute packaging.
