5 Brands On My 2019 Wishlist

Last year, I had the opportunity to try out a wide range of brands, and my hope for this year, of course, is that I can explore and experiment with many other brands.

Here are my personal top 5 brands to try out this year.

Drunk Elephant

I’ve heard so many good things about this skincare brand that just entered Singapore! I think the prices are really expensive though, so I’m a bit afraid of committing my money to Drunk Elephant’s products 😂 if anyone has recommendations for Drunk Elephant products that will definitely work for oily, acne-prone & sensitive skin, let me know!

Mario Badescu

I’ve heard about their facial sprays being really good for sensitive skin, so I’m really keen on trying them! Let me know if their toners are good as well, will be looking to try out a new toner once my current Muji one is depleted!

The History of Whoo

I seriously love the packaging – definitely something that looks Korean royalty-worthy Most reviews I’ve read of The History of Whoo’s products are very positive, but the one thing holding me back is, of course, the price. I certainly don’t have that kind of income to support such a luxurious skincare routine and makeup collection TT__TT I might try something from this brand if I really can afford it, otherwise I’ll put it in my wishlist… for 2020 😂

Jill Stuart

You know I’m a huge sucker for beautiful packaging, so how could I leave out Jill Stuart? Everything looks so luxurious and fit for a princess. I’ve seen some product swatches and they look really lovely. In fact, I think this brand looks a little like Japanese drugstore favourites Canmake and Cezanne, right? I know the prices aren’t super affordable either, so I’ll really have to save up to buy these beauties…

dear, Klairs

I was this close to buying their Vitamin C serum when I saw it in Korea but I eventually decided not to. I regret it. I am definitely going to try this brand in 2019 – watch me!!

  1. I have sensitive, acne prone skin and have tried both Drunk Elephant and Mario Badescu and have to say I like Mario MUCH better! I tried the Drunk Elephant TLC Glycolic Night Serum and it didn’t do anything for my skin. It is super expensive so I never repurchased after I finished the bottle. Was kind of disappointed.. There are several Mario products I love though! The drying lotion, rosewater spray, anti acne serum, buttermilk moisturizer, aloe chamomile and lavender spray, vitamin c serum, and cucumber cleansing lotion have all been staples for me at some point throughout the years! I’ve been wanting to try the silver powder, their scrubs and whitening mask because I’ve heard good things about them!

    1. I am exactly the same! I bought the Littlies Set or whatever it was called from Drunk Elephant which had a nice sample range of their top products. I tried it exclusively for about a month and noticed nothing. I thought I would notice something with a couple of the products but I get better results with my lactic acid pads from Go To beauty and I’ve just started on the vitamin C serum from Mario Badescu and enjoy it. Its one of the few Vitamin C serums (with hyaluronic acid) that doesn’t antagonise my sensitive skin. I also like the glycolic cleanser (not a fan of the enzyme gel) and the drying lotion from M.B too.

      1. I was really sad when I didn’t see anything happen to my skin with Drunk Elephant.. but I’ve been using MB for 6-7 years now (not always religiously) but I trust their products! Still looking for that magic potion for my skincare though!

  2. I do love the Drunk Elephant line, I would say their best product for my skin is C-Firma Day Serum. So great, but it can stain clothing just a word of caution. Their Hydration serum is great too, especially to counteract the drying effects of a prescription strength retinoid.

  3. I used to use the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion and I loved it! Just drying enough to make you feel likes it’s working but not harsh on skin that doesn’t need it! The sprays are also all fantastic!!

  4. Klairs is quite worth the hype. Their sheet masks are ok, but their bundle packs have products that go really well together. Its twice the cost of roadshop but products are decent sized. Really helped my skin
