[REVIEW] La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo +

This is one of those products that I’ve heard a lot about it being ‘holy grail’ for many people, how it’s great for getting rid of those nasty zits on your face. I’ve always been struggling with pimples, so I wanted to see if this would be as effective as people claimed.

Packaging: The product comes in a tube that is easy for you to squeeze an appropriate amount out. There’s nothing too fancy about La Roche-Posay’s packaging, which I appreciate because I prefer my skincare products to look more ‘professional’, if you get what I mean.

Texture: The Effaclar Duo + is very watery and lightweight, a bit like a gel. It gets absorbed easily by the skin so it doesn’t stay on the surface and leave your face feeling sticky and oily, which could further aggravate your acne.

Effectiveness: I used this as a spot treatment, so I applied it on areas where I see pimples, as well as potential acne scarring from previous breakouts. To my disappointment, I didn’t see really see my situation improving, as all the reviews had promised. In fact, I even faced a minor breakout!

I don’t know if I’m allergic to something in the formula, because my skin is quite sensitive and does not react very well to irritants, including fragrances. If you read reviews of this product online, you will realize that a minority of consumers face a similar situation, despite 90% of the rest saying that this product worked wonders for them. I’m guessing it’s also got to do with skin irritation, caused by certain ingredient(s).

Final Verdict

For a drugstore product that is rather pricey, I really wished this had worked better for me. I wasn’t able to test this before I bought it, so I urge you to test this out at the stores and make sure you don’t have any allergic reaction before you actually purchase this.

If you are looking for spot treatments and have sensitive skin, I advise to just give La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo + a miss. This is to avoid potential complications, as the product does not guarantee that it is good for even the most sensitive skin.

  1. Thats so sad it didn’t work for you, I really love this product and I use it every night on my chin area (the area where 99% of my acne occurs). I find that my skin is a lot better when I use this product, although it sadly hasn’t helped with my acne scarring really 😦

  2. Omg I love this line from La Roche-Posay! Actually I just love LRP in general, very good brand. I also just posted a review on one of their products if you want to check it out!
