This was one of the products I bought last year when THEFACESHOP released its collaboration with Kakao Friends’ Apeach. I’m a hugeeee fan of Apeach, so I bought this kind of like a collectible item. Nonetheless, I’ve also been wanting to try the brand’s Dr. Belmeur line for some time, so I guess I killed two birds with one stone this time round ~
The gel-type cream containing 2.5% panthenol creates a moisture barrier to soothe sensitive skin and help provide longer-lasting hydration.

Some ingredients to take note of:
- Butylene Glycol: potential irritant
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: good for soothing irritated skin
- Parfum: potential irritant

As you can see, it’s packed full of ingredients that really help to moisturise and soothe skin; ironically, it also contains ingredients that can potentially irritate your skin as well. My advice is to test this out at a store for yourself if you have sensitive skin, just in case the irritant supersedes all the other ingredients on you.
Packaging: How is this not cute??? Every time I open the tub, I’m like patting Apeach on the head. It is so, so, so adorable. If you are an Apeach fan and you don’t like this, please don’t call yourself a fan. Even if you are not an Apeach fan, you should still like this. It’s really one of the cutest skincare products I’ve seen in a long time.
Texture: It’s very aqueous, so it gets absorbed by my skin very easily. I didn’t think that it was actually very oily, although my device seems to tell me that it may be slightly oily. I’m guessing this may be because of the squalene present in the product (squalene is obtained from shark liver oil), although I can’t be sure.
Hydration level went up by 2%, and oil level went up by 0.6%.
Note that I did not conduct the ‘after’ test immediately, but waited a while for the product to settle in.
Effectiveness: I love how cooling the product feels on my skin after application, and I’m guessing this has to do with all these extracts in it, especially the aloe vera one. My skin immediately feels hydrated for sure. I’m guessing that you don’t see a huge difference in my skin hydration levels above because it’s already quite well-moisturised.
I also like to use this on my face and arms when I get a little sunburnt from being out in the sun for too long, and it always heals by the very next day!
Cute packaging aside, this soothing gel cream from THEFACESHOP has been a very good skincare product that I use quite regularly and interchangeably with my MISSHA snail cream.
SGD42 is definitely not cheap, especially considering its small product size (50ml), but really good skincare products hardly come cheap, unless you strike gold with some drugstore find. I probably wouldn’t call this a must-buy because you have similar, cheaper alternatives (Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera is still unbeatable at SGD5 tbh), but it is definitely not a purchase that will leave you wishing it was never made.
