[REVIEW] TFS Inkgel Pencil Eyeliner

Besides BB cream and eyebrow pencil, the one product I can’t do without is eyeliner. Granted, my eyes are not that small, but eyeliner definitely helps to make your eyes look bigger, deeper, and a lot sharper than they normally do.

Thanks to my perpetual struggle with liquid eyeliner and the alarming rate at which I finish my eyeliners, I’m always on the lookout for new pencil eyeliners. I saw this product in Korea when I was buying a new shade of the Moisture Touch lipstick and decided to put this in the basket since it was TFS, and TFS’ products have never left me disappointed.

Ingredient List

A quick check on the ingredients shows that there’s nothing much to worry about, which is great news!

The names of many of the shades sound so delicious – I settled on Choco Latte, a chocolate brown.

Packaging: A simple pencil, with a cap that clearly tells you what colour it is. It’s light and convenient to carry around in your makeup pouch.

Colour payoff & intensity: This product’s payoff is really good, in fact, much better than I had expected. It glides smoothly on the eyelids with a good colour payoff, so that you don’t have to keep tugging to get a decent colour (coughs at Innisfree). I think this brown is fantastic if you’re looking for something to make your eyes look bigger and more alert, without coming off as too fierce with dark black.

Staying power: I’m amazed at how waterproof AND smudge-proof this eyeliner is. I’ve probably got the oiliest eyelids possible, so I’ve been very impressed by how well this eyeliner stays put throughout the day no matter how much I sweat. On days that I know I have to sweat quite a bit in the hot weather, or with no guarantee that I’ll get time to touch up on my makeup, this is definitely the eyeliner that I go for. It also helps that it’s super easy to draw, almost like using a pencil or crayon.

Final Verdict

I haven’t said this before, but I’ll say it – this is my FAVOURITE pencil eyeliner!!

Although it’s not very cheap (sadly), I’d gladly fork out the money to repurchase this eyeliner in all the other shades because I love it so much. Easy to use, great colour payoff, and impressive staying power – these are the qualities I’m looking for in an eyeliner, and TFS’ Inkgel ticked all the right boxes.

I HIGHLY recommend this, with all my heart and in all sincerity. Once you try this product, you may never buy another type of pencil eyeliner again.

[REVIEW] THEFACESHOP Lovely Meex Pastel Cushion Blusher

Out of all the makeup items that I normally use, the one I’ve experimented with the least is probably blush. I was pretty happy with using my MISSHA one, but I sometimes felt like the colour gets very intense because of how much I tend to swipe at one go (I’m not the gentlest person out there), so I wanted to see if I could try something else.

Packaging: Firstly, I have to say that while I try not to purchase cosmetics and skincare purely due to their packaging, this cushion’s one was really too cute. TFS has often had hits and misses with their collaborations (I’m not too keen on the ones they had with Trolls and Marvel tbh, but I love their Ryan and Simpsons collections).

Colour: I bought shade 02, which is a coral colour. I find that pink sometimes doesn’t work too well on me as a blush colour, so I thought coral was a better choice.

Colour payoff & intensity: As you can see, there’s glitter in the blush, which is really nice, but the colour isn’t very intense. I find that I usually have to build up about 2-3 layers to get a good colour payoff, but this blush is definitely buildable and looks very natural as a result.

Staying power: With regards to whether it stays on, I can assure you that it definitely does. I tend to get very lazy about contouring (got no energy for that in the morning), so I just use my blush to contour my cheekbones. I find that this works really well without making me look too gaudy, and has a nice shimmer to it as well. At the end of the day, my cheeks actually look almost the same as when I first did my makeup.

Final Verdict

I really really like this blush. Really.

I can’t find anything about this blush to complain about. Maybe if you like to do an intense job on the cheeks, this may not be your kind of thing because the puff makes it a little hard to plonk a huge chunk of blush at one go, but I think it makes for a very natural look, which I like.

Will I repurchase? Yes!

(In fact, I may permanently replace my MISSHA one with this…)

[REVIEW] THEFACESHOP Moisture Touch Lipstick

THEFACESHOP has Suzy as its ambassador, and it’s not hard to see why. With natural beauty, elegance and a touch of innocence, Suzy is known in Korea as the nation’s ‘first love’. I liked her role in Dream High a lot, and it was because of her that I took special notice of THEFACESHOP as a brand.

Product description

• Layers of moisture create a protective barrier: Infuses lips with a serum containing 10% squalene, leaving lips feeling luxuriously moist layer after layer
• Multiple layers of lipstick allows for smooth and vivid coloured lips: With the highly dense colour compact system, colour becomes more vivid and true to its original colour as it is repeatedly applied.
• Shiny layering looks like a clear coating has been applied: Conditions lips and makes them look shiny and smooth with no visible wrinkles

I have to admit that I bought these on a whim. I hadn’t actually planned to buy any lipsticks from THEFACESHOP, but I tried them for fun at the store and was absolutely floored by the formula, so I bought not 1, but 2!

I bought shades PK01 and RD04, which I thought were very nice and representative shades of pink and red respectively – what I planned was to use pink for casual, fun days, and red for more formal events.

UPDATE: I recently purchased shade BE03. This is by far one of the best MLBB shades I’ve ever gotten.

As you can see from the swatches,

  1. Colour payoff is INTENSE: This took just one swipe – can you believe it?!
  2. Incredibly moisturizing: just look at how the lipstick reflects light!

This always feels really good on my lips because it is incredibly moisturizing, almost like a lip tint. What they didn’t include in the product description (and totally should) was also how long this lasts. It actually manages to survive round after round of eating and drinking without transferring much.

Final Verdict

I love this so much that I keep singing praises of this to my friends, and even went back to THEFACESHOP in hopes of buying another shade (I ended up buying the Matt Touch lipstick, another amazing product that I’ll review next time). I don’t always sing such praises of lipsticks (which usually disappoint me with the formula and short staying power), but this is honestly worth all the praise I can give.

This product is the foundation of my trust in THEFACESHOP’s cosmetics, and now I know why Suzy can manage to look so flawless all the time.

As a testament to how frequently I use the lipsticks, you can see from the featured image that the tip is already ‘worn out’ by a fair bit. I really like how all I need to do is swipe this lipstick once and my lips are ready for a long day ahead, so I definitely recommend this with both my thumbs up.

The only issue I take with this product is that it’s definitely not one of the cheapest options you can get out there, but I think for the quality it offers, it’s definitely justifiable.

Korea is a paradise for buying cosmetics and skincare, and Myeongdong is the one place where you will find everything you want and need at the best possible prices. I bought 60 of these face masks for 29000 won (~SGD34.80) during one of their offers in one of TFS’ shops in Myeongdong this summer, which was about less than SGD1 per mask.

As these masks come in a variety of ingredients, I will be reviewing the ones that I have tried and tested individually.

The mask sheet drenched in serum with soothing Calendula helps smooth dry, rough, dead surface cells.

I have had great experience with calendula as a skincare ingredient (thanks to my previous experience with Kiehl’s calendula toner), and had high hopes for this as well. This is also probably my favourite in this product line. I find that my skin feels very moisturized and smooth after using this, and it also helps that calendula smells pretty good. I am definitely repurchasing this.

The mask sheet with Blueberry essence (the gifted “super food”) replenishes skin’s moisture barrier to protect its energy and vitality and help create baby-soft skin.

I honestly didn’t like this one as much as the product description promises. I thought maybe it was just a one-off bad experience; unfortunately, it’s been the same with all the blueberry ones that I bought. My skin always felt very dried out and itchy after using this, and nowhere near moisturized. While I didn’t get extremely bad acne from this, I certainly won’t be buying this again, nor recommend this ingredient at all.

Mung Bean

The pore care mask sheet with Mung Bean essence purifies and helps tightens pores, leaving skin clean and smooth.

I have pretty neutral opinions on this. It’s not amazing, but not bad either. It really smells like green beans (which I do not enjoy), but it moisturizes my skin sufficiently. My skin doesn’t feel super smooth and tightened after using it either, but I do feel a slight difference. Not my first choice to buy again, but if it comes sold in a pack with other ingredients, I wouldn’t mind too much.

The moisture recharging mask sheet with Cucumber essence provides cool moisture to dull, dry skin to quench its thirst.

I’m no fan of cucumbers, but this is really good. My skin always feels super dry and dull, but it gets pretty moisurized after I use this. I like the nice, cooling feeling that this mask provides, and I would definitely stock up on this again.
