[WISHLIST] March 2019

Almost everyday, a brand releases a product or collaboration that is sure to tempt you into buying, even if you already have a ton of unused products on your vanity table. That’s how I feel every time I scroll Instagram, so I wanted to share some products that’s been on my wishlist for some time!

Canmake Cream Cheek

I feel like it’s no secret by now that I’m quite obsessed with blushes (oops). It’s probably one of my favourite collectibles, right after lipsticks.

Firstly, I really can’t resist this cute packaging from Canmake. It looks like a gorgeous jewel, and I have a serious penchant for all these pretty and feminine shades.

I’m also at this stage where I’m trying to move on from powder blushes (slowly but surely) and buy more liquid & cream ones. Considering that this cream one is said to be very popular in Japan, how could I leave this out of my wishlist, right?

Glossier Cloud Paint

I’ve been eyeing Glossier for the longest possible time, but I never got around to buying any of their products. For starters, it’s not easily available in Singapore, and the price point is even less accessible :/ I also feel that their products, which focus more on ‘good skin’ and letting your natural beauty shine, are really just meant for people who already have good skin (I don’t).

However, I think this blush from Glossier is actually one that would work well especially if you have bumpy, acne-plagued skin. I’ve seen some swatches of these and I’m quite impressed. This blush gives you a flush that comes close to the dewy and barely-there look that K-beauty brands have been championing since forever.

Canmake Marshmallow Powder

If there’s one thing in my makeup routine that barely changes, it’s my setting powder. I alternate between Innisfree and Althea, but I think maybe it’s time for me to try something new soon.

I feel that the Korean glass skin is a little out of reach for me, but the Japanese mochi skin is probably not as difficult to attain, and this is one product that looks like it will give you seriously bouncy & smooth skin!

Heimish Bulgarian Rose Hydrogel Eye Patch

My eyebags and dark eye circles are so bad these days, I feel like they may be stuck there forever, even if I manage to get 8 hours of sleep someday. I haven’t been paying much attention to eye care as well and felt quite guilty about it, so I got quite interested when I saw these online.

Plus, the patches are made of pink, glittery hydrogel – so pretty! Now who could say not to pretty skincare products, right?

Etude House Quick & Easy Blur Tint

I have a love-hate relationship with Etude House’s lip products, but thankfully my opinion of them has been getting better these days.

I saw these on Instagram for some time and I thought this was an interesting lippie that EH was pushing. This definitely looks like something Innisfree is already selling (Vivid Cotton Ink). Peripera has, well, obviously already been there with their Airy Velvet Tints, and even 3CE is famous for their velvet lip tints as well, so this is not a new innovation or anything.

Even so, I’m curious to see how different these blur tints from Etude House will be. One thing I really like about EH’s tints is that they are truly made to last, with a staying power that even Peripera finds it hard to beat.

5 Brands On My 2019 Wishlist

Last year, I had the opportunity to try out a wide range of brands, and my hope for this year, of course, is that I can explore and experiment with many other brands.

Here are my personal top 5 brands to try out this year.

Drunk Elephant

Source

I’ve heard so many good things about this skincare brand that just entered Singapore! I think the prices are really expensive though, so I’m a bit afraid of committing my money to Drunk Elephant’s products 😂 if anyone has recommendations for Drunk Elephant products that will definitely work for oily, acne-prone & sensitive skin, let me know!

Mario Badescu

Source

I’ve heard about their facial sprays being really good for sensitive skin, so I’m really keen on trying them! Let me know if their toners are good as well, will be looking to try out a new toner once my current Muji one is depleted!

The History of Whoo

Source

I seriously love the packaging – definitely something that looks Korean royalty-worthy Most reviews I’ve read of The History of Whoo’s products are very positive, but the one thing holding me back is, of course, the price. I certainly don’t have that kind of income to support such a luxurious skincare routine and makeup collection TT__TT I might try something from this brand if I really can afford it, otherwise I’ll put it in my wishlist… for 2020 😂

Jill Stuart

Source

You know I’m a huge sucker for beautiful packaging, so how could I leave out Jill Stuart? Everything looks so luxurious and fit for a princess. I’ve seen some product swatches and they look really lovely. In fact, I think this brand looks a little like Japanese drugstore favourites Canmake and Cezanne, right? I know the prices aren’t super affordable either, so I’ll really have to save up to buy these beauties…

I was this close to buying their Vitamin C serum when I saw it in Korea but I eventually decided not to. I regret it. I am definitely going to try this brand in 2019 – watch me!!

[WISHLIST] November 2018

Almost everyday, a brand releases a product or collaboration that is sure to tempt you into buying, even if you already have a ton of unused products on your vanity table. That’s how I feel every time I scroll Instagram, so I wanted to share some products that caught my eye recently!

I started writing this as a one-off post in July but I discovered that every month I would definitely have something new I want to try, so I’m going to try and make this a monthly affair.

Etude House Bubble Tea Sleeping Pack

There’s a stereotype that Asians love to drink bubble tea, and to be fair they ain’t far from the mark. What I love most about this is that the bubbles are actually part of the product and not just packaging aesthetic – you’re supposed to ‘gently rupture the bubbles with the spatula onto the palm and rub with the fingers to mix the bubbles and pack’. This definitely sounds like a fun masking experience.

Holika Holika Lazy & Joy Gudetama Eyeshadow

Come on, it’s Gudetama!! To be honest, the reason why I first bought anything from Holika Holika was because of this collaboration with our favourite egg friend. Packaging aside, I think the colours in this palette are great for most skin tones, and especially for beginners – it’s hard to go wrong with nudes and browns! The colour payoff also looks quite intense from swatches, which I really want to find in an eyeshadow product from a K-beauty brand (it’s really rare to find Korean brand eyeshadows that give an intense payoff, please don’t ask me why).

16Brand Mochi Pact Peach Light

Who would have thought this multi-use pact can be applied as eyeshadow, highlighter, pearlescent lips – almost anywhere on your face? The swatches look super amazing and the model’s skin looks so radiant that I am envious. Very envious. I want to look like I’m in the pink of health too (literally). The only problem is that this doesn’t look like it comes cheap at SGD32 on Shopee :/

too cool for school Art Class By Rodin Highlighter

I think by now all my readers would think that I am obsessed with this line of products from too cool for school. I raved about their blush, lusted over their contour, and now I’m eyeing their highlighter 🤦 but honestly, look at how pretty it is, and that glow! To be fair I think the model already had super clear skin, but it looked a lot more 3D after that highlight, which is especially great if your features look flat in photos (aka me).

[WISHLIST] October 2018

Almost everyday, a brand releases a product or collaboration that is sure to tempt you into buying, even if you already have a ton of unused products on your vanity table. That’s how I feel every time I scroll Instagram, so I wanted to share some products that caught my eye recently!

I started writing this as a one-off post in July but I discovered that every month I would definitely have something new I want to try, so I’m going to try and make this a monthly affair.

MISSHA Wish Stone Tint Water Gel

I’m a sucker for pretty packaging, so there you go. I’ve been eyeing this for a very, very, very long time (I think at least 5 months tbh) but I didn’t really want to buy new lip products anytime soon, so they’ve just been sitting in my shopping cart for eons. Lip tints are honestly a staple in anyone’s makeup collection because of a generally good staying power and intense colours, so I’m always keen to add one more to my collection.

Vichy Liftactiv Vitamin C Brightening Skin Corrector

I’ve heard that Vitamin C can help to lighten acne scarring, and I’m generally quite pleased with the Vichy products I’ve tried so far, so I got really interested in this Vichy product when I first heard about it. I’ve yet to go and read reviews by fellow beauty bloggers about this (which I really should), so I would deeply appreciate if anyone has tried this and would love to share some thoughts!

HERA Black Cushion

HERA landed in Singapore this year, and this is their star product which I’ve heard people raving over. I always love a good cushion because I constantly touch up on the go, and definitely love the convenience of using cushions as part of my morning makeup routine when I’m feeling too tired to go through the notions. The articles and reviews I have read so far have given glowing appraisals of this product, so I’m quite keen to try this someday.

Thayers Premium Witch Hazel Toner

This is one of those products that almost every beauty Youtuber you watch will call their ‘holy grail’ product until you get really tired of hearing them say how great this product is. However, I am convinced that there must be some truth to it after looking at some before & after photos provided by reviewers. Unfortunately, I don’t think this is sold in retail stores in Singapore, so I’ll probably get this online after I’m done with my current toners (which, frankly, is probably not any time soon).

too cool for school Art Class By Rodin Shading

Another K-beauty holy grail product – however, I can justify this!! I am currently using its blush counterpart, which has been such a joy and delight to use (not exaggerating). That got me really interested in using the OG contour product, even though I really don’t use contour often. It looks really promising but I currently am in no rush to buy contour, so I’m putting this in my shopping cart first and waiting for a good opportunity to check this out.

[WISHLIST] September 2018

Almost everyday, a brand releases a product or collaboration that is sure to tempt you into buying, even if you already have a ton of unused products on your vanity table. That’s how I feel every time I scroll Instagram, so I wanted to share some products that caught my eye recently!

I started writing this as a one-off post in July but I discovered that every month I would definitely have something new I want to try, so I’m going to try and make this a monthly affair haha.

UPDATE: Towards the end of the post, I realized that I love most of these because they are so affordable for the great value they provide. I guess you could call September my budget wishlist month HAHA.

Nature Republic Pro Touch Color Master Season 2

This eyeshadow palette is seriously the stuff that sweet dreams are made of. It has all these lovely shades that are great for most skin tones, and has textures suitable for any occasion you can think of. I’m an extremely big fan of rose, peach shades, so you can imagine how much I really want to get my hands on this palette. The best part about this is that it’s actually pretty affordable as well (SGD 37.60 on Shopee)!!

Aritaum Sugarball Cushion Blusher

Okay I think the colours are little exaggerated here to show how good the colour payoff can be, but seriously, aren’t they all so pretty? The shades I like in particular are creamy rose and daisy coral – I find that bright pink doesn’t look too great on me. I also like that this packaging reminds me of IOPE’s blush, which is a lot more expensive. This blush from Aritaum looks almost identical and costs only a fraction of the IOPE’s price!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

I read a lot of great reviews online about this spray that helps you to set your makeup and keep your skin hydrated. After I used my Vichy one, I’ve been quite tempted to try those from other brands to see if I can get something that feels just as good. It also helps that this is pretty affordable for something from Sephora!

Unpa. Bubi Bubi Lip

I think I saw this on a Youtube video but I can’t remember which. I recently started using lip scrubs because I realized that I have a lot of dry, flaky skin on my lips that looks really bad when I’m using matte lipsticks. I also think it’s quite cute to have bubbles gently removing dead skin. At about SGD 12/13, I do feel that the interesting experience is rather worth it, and it will be even better if it works as advertised.

[WISHLIST] August 2018

Almost everyday, a brand releases a product or collaboration that is sure to tempt you into buying, even if you already have a ton of unused products on your vanity table. That’s how I feel every time I scroll Instagram, so I wanted to share some products that’s been on my wishlist for some time!

Lily By Red Mood Liar Velvet Tint

I hate to admit it, but this relatively unknown brand caught my eye because, well, it’s endorsed by Hyunbin (the PD101 contestant, not to be confused with the other Hyunbin who shoots more CFs than dramas). Also, I think this is one of the rare few times that K-beauty has actually used a male celebrity to endorse lip tints..! Wanna One has done lip balms, but a lip tint? This has got to be the first. I think Hyunbin’s pick looks like a peachy pink, definitely very gorgeous and wearable for most occasions.

Peripera Ink The Gelato

I’m a sucker for good packaging and a sucker for Peripera’s products, so there we go 😂I’m actually really amazed at how many new lip tints Peripera can come up with. You would think that most companies would stop at 1 or 2 types of lip tints, right? Peripera seems pretty determined to prove everyone wrong, but I’m not complaining. The shade range is rather limited for now, but maybe Peripera will add in more colours later (just like they did with the wildly popular Airy Ink Velvet)?

MISSHA Cotton Blusher & Contour

I’ve been getting a little obsessed with blushes lately, which I guess is a nice break from lip products (not really, not for my wallet). Frankly, this first caught my eye because it resembled shu uemura’s products:

Aside that, what’s not to love about clean packaging and warm hues? The colour payoff looks lovely in the swatches, but I have yet to see any reviews about them – would love for some enlightenment, let me know in the comments if you have tried this blush!

 It’s Skin Power 10 Formula

This is probably the closest I can get to getting a customized skincare product without breaking the bank, and I recall there a hype over this some time back. Well it’s still on my mind, and I’m honestly very keen to try this out. My only worry is that I might be mixing all the wrong stuff on my face and I might witness a bad acne outbreak. Again. But I’m still keeping this on my wishlist until I’m more certain of what my skin needs.

MISSHA 3rd Gen.Time Revolution First Treatment Essence

Another MISSHA item! I got to say, I really underestimated how good their products are until I started using their Cell Renew Snail Cream – best skincare investment ever. Okay ,back to this essence. I was told that this is a dupe for SKII, and we all know how expensive SKII is, so… so yeah. I’m not dreaming of buying SKII any time soon, but I can definitely put a more affordable option on my wishlist, right?

[WISHLIST] Jul 2018

Almost everyday, a brand releases a product or collaboration that is sure to tempt you into buying, even if you already have a ton of unused products on your vanity table. That’s how I feel every time I scroll Instagram, so I wanted to share some products that’s been on my wishlist for some time!

Etude House Play Color Eyes #Peach Farm

I have two of Etude House’s Play Color Eyes Palettes (Juice Bar and Cherry Blossom), and while I am frankly not a big fan of the colour payoff, I seriously love the colours in this palette. It looks a lot like Too Faced’s, but retails at a much lower price point. I was really excited when I saw this being released in Korea, but it’s still not available in local Etude House stores. I don’t know why Etude House Singapore doesn’t want to stock this, because I’ve heard from friends that they would love to buy this as well. Oh well. I’m looking to buy this in Korea, or else order online from Shopee.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup

I recall first seeing this in as a PPL in Korean drama Temperature of Love, and then I really got interested in purchasing this after switching from BB creams to foundations. I actually haven’t had much problems with my current foundations (alternating between Lancome and Innisfree) but they do oxidize after a long period of time. I really want something that can last longer without me touching up with BB cushions, because I tend to spend long days outside in hot, sweltering weather.

I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews about this – any reader would like to say more about this? The only thing really stopping me from trying this foundation is its price, so I’m really considering investing in this foundation if enough people can convince me 😂

LANEIGE Water Bank Quick Hydro Pen

I’m interested in buying this more for the novelty, if anything. How cute is it to carry a pen around and scribble on your face when you need hydration?! I actually tried the tester at a local LANEIGE store – while it did feel hydrating on the areas I applied, my only question is when I might need to use it. Maybe this will come in handy when you’re living in a place with really dry weather, and your skin is cracking? The applicator is a bit small and looks more like a brush than a pen, but it’s still a very fun product concept that I want to use someday.

3CE Tattoo Lip Color

The colours are so gorgeous that I would want to bag every single shade here. Don’t they make the lips look really juicy and sweet? Okay, that did not sound quite right, but you get my point. I’ve been using MLBB shades so often these days that I’ve almost forgotten how fun it is to use popping shades like these. I think they might sell this in Sephora, but I have to check. My favourites have to be #Candy Jelly and #Yay or Nay – what’s yours?

Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks

Friend A said she bought this and it looked really good on her, and personally, I find these blushes so pretty that I’m surprised I have resisted buying this for so long. I’ve tested some shades of this at my local pharmacy and I’m really impressed by the colour. It gives your cheeks a natural, healthy glow that you can sport even if you’re actually dying on the inside, so I’m putting this in my shopping cart and waiting for a good day to check this out.
