[REVIEW] TFS Finger Cotton Tint

I’ve always been a huge fan of TFS’ makeup products, so it is little wonder that I got back to buying stuff from them again. I do think that TFS in SG gets a lot less attention than they deserve despite selling some products worth holy grail status, so do show the brand some love if you’re looking to try something new ~

Product Description

  • Contain moisture oil complex to create moisturizing gorgeous and vivid lips without lump.
  • Cotton applicator with diagonal tip allow soft and delicate lip makeup with creamy texture at first then a semi-matte finish.
  • Apply a moderate amount from inside to outside lips gently.

Ingredient List

Again, I’m not sure why I’m unable to find the ingredient list for this product anywhere on the web, just like a few others previously 😦 Ah well.

I had such a hard time trying to pick a colour – did I want to buy something more vibrant, or a wearable shade that I could pull off everyday? In such times of doubt, I went with the easier option – buy both!

Packaging: It reminds me a lot of paint tubes, which is probably what they were going for when they designed this. I like that it’s easy to bring around and use, and is not too messy either.

Texture: Even though the shots make it look like it’s slightly glossy, it definitely dries down to a matte finish. It gets a little drying as the day progresses, but nothing too uncomfortable.

Colour payoff & intensity: The swatches in the photos were achieved with just one swipe each, which is honestly very amazing. I find the #08 Brown-presso is a lot more pigmented than #04 More Coral, which can probably be partly attributed to the fact that it’s a darker shade after all. I like to create a gradient look using these because I’m not too keen on

Colour: I’m so happy that I picked these two shades, because they are definitely complimentary to any occasion you can name. You can use #08 when you want to achieve a more mature look for an important event, and #04 for a casual day out, or even wear it to school!

Staying power: The staying power of this lipstick is pretty okay, but nothing really outstanding. I’ve had it last at least one meal and survive multiple rounds of drinking water, but what’s left is usually just small patches of colour on the lips. Do also note that it’s not transfer-proof, which is slightly disappointing 😕

Final Verdict

As usual, TFS has not disappointed with this lip product. I really like the colours available, but it would be great if they offered more MLBB/nude shades in future, as the current selection mostly comprises bright, vivid colours that not everyone may be comfortable with.

The staying power is not too bad, but again, nothing really noteworthy. It doesn’t actually promise to be long-lasting or transfer-proof, so I guess you can’t fault the brand for it. But I guess you would expect a lip tint to last longer, no?

I do think that it gets a bit too drying over time, despite being branded as a semi-matte lip product containing moisturizing oils. Maybe it’s just my lips? But the problem is not too serious, you can always prevent the problem of dried-out lips by applying lip balm before the lip tint.

This is a good product to try out if you love bright and bold colours, so do pop this in your basket the next time you visit TFS 🙂

[REVIEW] TFS Inkgel Pencil Eyeliner

Besides BB cream and eyebrow pencil, the one product I can’t do without is eyeliner. Granted, my eyes are not that small, but eyeliner definitely helps to make your eyes look bigger, deeper, and a lot sharper than they normally do.

Thanks to my perpetual struggle with liquid eyeliner and the alarming rate at which I finish my eyeliners, I’m always on the lookout for new pencil eyeliners. I saw this product in Korea when I was buying a new shade of the Moisture Touch lipstick and decided to put this in the basket since it was TFS, and TFS’ products have never left me disappointed.

Product Description

Express deep and defined eyes with Automatic Pencil Eyeliner’s soft gel eyeliner and highly vivid ink-colour.
  • Deliver rich colour with one single glide of the creamy melting gel texture eyeliner.
  • The smudge-resistant eyeliner delivers neat, long-lasting eye makeup with no smudging from sweat and sebum.
  • The built-in sharpener is convenient. You can sharpen your pencil eyeliner anytime.

The names of many of the shades sound so delicious – I settled on Choco Latte, a chocolate brown.

Packaging: A simple pencil, with a cap that clearly tells you what colour it is. It’s light and convenient to carry around in your makeup pouch.

Colour payoff & intensity: This product’s payoff is really good, in fact, much better than I had expected. It glides smoothly on the eyelids with a good colour payoff, so that you don’t have to keep tugging to get a decent colour (coughs at Innisfree). I think this brown is fantastic if you’re looking for something to make your eyes look bigger and more alert, without coming off as too fierce with dark black.

Staying power: I’m amazed at how waterproof AND smudge-proof this eyeliner is. I’ve probably got the oiliest eyelids possible, so I’ve been very impressed by how well this eyeliner stays put throughout the day no matter how much I sweat. On days that I know I have to sweat quite a bit in the hot weather, or with no guarantee that I’ll get time to touch up on my makeup, this is definitely the eyeliner that I go for. It also helps that it’s super easy to draw, almost like using a pencil or crayon.

Final Verdict

I haven’t said this before, but I’ll say it – this is my FAVOURITE pencil eyeliner!!

Although it’s not very cheap (sadly), I’d gladly fork out the money to repurchase this eyeliner in all the other shades because I love it so much. Easy to use, great colour payoff, and impressive staying power – these are the qualities I’m looking for in an eyeliner, and TFS’ Inkgel ticked all the right boxes.

I HIGHLY recommend this, with all my heart and in all sincerity. Once you try this product, you may never buy another type of pencil eyeliner again.

How Much Is Your Lipstick Worth Per Gram? [PART I]

I’ve always been curious as to whether I’m getting the most value out of my lipsticks – I can’t tell whether some are rather pricey despite the small volume, or cheap precisely because of the volume. With this in mind, I started punching numbers to find out how much my lipsticks were worth per gram.

The first part of this series focuses on my bullet lipsticks, while more on liquid ones will come later.

DISCLAIMER: Some of these numbers may not be wholly accurate due to differences in prices – I obtained these prices from either official brand websites, other retailers, or individual sellers on selling platforms. Prices are also listed in SGD (Singapore dollars).

[REVIEW] THEFACESHOP Real Nature Masks

Korea is a paradise for buying cosmetics and skincare, and Myeongdong is the one place where you will find everything you want and need at the best possible prices. I bought 60 of these face masks for 29000 won (~SGD34.80) during one of their offers in one of TFS’ shops in Myeongdong this summer, which was about less than SGD1 per mask.

As these masks come in a variety of ingredients, I will be reviewing the ones that I have tried and tested individually.

Calendula

The mask sheet drenched in serum with soothing Calendula helps smooth dry, rough, dead surface cells.

I have had great experience with calendula as a skincare ingredient (thanks to my previous experience with Kiehl’s calendula toner), and had high hopes for this as well. This is also probably my favourite in this product line. I find that my skin feels very moisturized and smooth after using this, and it also helps that calendula smells pretty good. I am definitely repurchasing this.

Blueberry

The mask sheet with Blueberry essence (the gifted “super food”) replenishes skin’s moisture barrier to protect its energy and vitality and help create baby-soft skin.

I honestly didn’t like this one as much as the product description promises. I thought maybe it was just a one-off bad experience; unfortunately, it’s been the same with all the blueberry ones that I bought. My skin always felt very dried out and itchy after using this, and nowhere near moisturized. While I didn’t get extremely bad acne from this, I certainly won’t be buying this again, nor recommend this ingredient at all.

Mung Bean

The pore care mask sheet with Mung Bean essence purifies and helps tightens pores, leaving skin clean and smooth.

I have pretty neutral opinions on this. It’s not amazing, but not bad either. It really smells like green beans (which I do not enjoy), but it moisturizes my skin sufficiently. My skin doesn’t feel super smooth and tightened after using it either, but I do feel a slight difference. Not my first choice to buy again, but if it comes sold in a pack with other ingredients, I wouldn’t mind too much.

Cucumber

The moisture recharging mask sheet with Cucumber essence provides cool moisture to dull, dry skin to quench its thirst.

I’m no fan of cucumbers, but this is really good. My skin always feels super dry and dull, but it gets pretty moisurized after I use this. I like the nice, cooling feeling that this mask provides, and I would definitely stock up on this again.
